Enjoy more art and books
2 min read

There’s more to enjoy – and more time to enjoy it – at the San Remo library.

The library has now introduced Open Access, which gives you the freedom to explore the library between 8am and 8pm every day, seven days a week.

“This means you can read, learn, and enjoy the library’s resources at your convenience, fitting into your busy schedule,” a spokesperson for Myli said.

Open Access means more opportunity to access books, study spaces, and resources when it suits you best, and enjoy all the library’s services at your convenience.

Open Access membership is available for library members aged 18 years or older, although eligibility criteria apply.

To apply, drop into the library, phone 1800 44 6954 or email: sanremo@myli.org.au

Or you can visit the website and register your interest online: www.myli.org.au

PICES exhibition

The library is also hosting a new exhibition from the Phillip Island Contemporary Exhibition Space Inc. (PICES).

PISCES believes that Arts and Culture and creativity are central to a healthy, thriving, engaged and active community and should be accessible to all.

The group is committed to enriching the Arts and Culture environment in Bass Coast by bringing contemporary art to the community.

The partnership between PICES and the San Remo library to exhibit PICES members 2D art works was launched in August 2023 with the first exhibition by four artists displaying their bright colourful paintings giving the library a facelift.

The second exhibition will remain on display until the end of February 2024.

The exhibiting artists are:

  • John Adam, a well known artist and teacher creating dramatic works using strong colours.
  • Diana Bannister, known for her semi abstract work based on the shapes of the natural and manmade environment.
  • Sandra Lamerton (Henstridge) who creates beautiful interpretations of her environment.
  • Sheryl Stuart who is passionate about her garden and demonstrates this with her beautiful detailed paintings.

All artworks are for sale, payment and collection of your purchase is to be arranged with the artist. Contact details of the artists are available at the library – just ask the staff member on duty.
San Remo library is located at 92 Back Beach Road.
