A local artist showcase

Pyramid Rock Gallery is an island inspired art space to help artists to show and sell their art.

Its most recent exhibition Salt Water on June 24 featured the work of 14 local artists.

Art displayed at the gallery is made by artists influenced by the island, showcasing the unique Island culture through art.

Part of its collection is celebrated artist DAK (David Alexander Kopelman’s) art.

“Many eccentric art makers have called the Island home including DAK,” said gallery owner Bronwyn van der Heyden.

“Whether you are local, have a holiday home here or are influenced by your travel here, we are interested in showing your art.

“You can rent wall space for $15 per metre per week or be a part of a free group exhibition.”

Located in Thompson Avenue, Cowes, Pyramid Rock Gallery also holds art classes every Thursday and Saturday at 4pm to help artists create their own masterpieces.

“Be inspired by the art filled gallery. Bring along any art you are working on or if you’re a beginner learn to paint in a relaxed environment,” encouraged Bronwyn.

Artist studios are available for rent at affordable rates. All gallery spaces are available to rent to hold solo or group shows with a large outdoor sculpture garden for celebrations and event hire.

Art prize

Pyramid Rock Gallery will be holding a summer art competition – the DAK Arts Prize. Entry fee is $50. First prize $500, second prize $200 and third $100. All levels of artists are encouraged to apply.

“If anyone in the community needs help to maintain or sell any piece of DAK’s art, we have a group of professionals to help you to maintain the life of your sculpture,” Bronwyn said.

“We can help you promote, sell or auction DAK’s work.

“Any commission from the sale of his art will help us create the DAK Arts Prize competition and will enable us to give larger art prizes in the future.”

Any current art of DAK was placed at the gallery by DAK and is displayed for free.
