Have you ever wanted to go to New York? Well now you can!
A quirky little fox, that is just a little bit fancy, is coming to the Wonthaggi Theatre on July 16.
Fancy Fox was derived through the imagination of Sophie Bowen, during lockdown one year ago. Belinda Phillips, Director of Marrina Mouse’s Theatre House, produced and worked with Sophie to publish her book Fancy Fox's City Escapades.
“At the beginning of the year, we decided to bring Sophie's character alive by creating Marrina Mouse’s Theatre House’s first musical theatre production for the season.
“New York is such an amazing melting pot of characters, we decided it would be the perfect production to welcome inclusion for all that come to Marrina Mouse's Theatre House,” Belinda says
“It is important we showcase a production where all students can feel welcome and provide a platform where they can come alive through character.
“The production provides a wonderful opportunity for characters in the story to really come alive through dance and storytelling,” Belinda says.
All students in the Monday night theatrical workshop discussed and devised an outline to the production and got to work.
Mia Bowtell, who plays Flora Fox, was appointed dance captain and has introduced beautiful ballet and dance scenes.
Ayla William plays Cammie Monroe, and her talent was noticed in choreography, so she has choreographed three of the dance scenes.
Emily Lecouteur has developed her character, Chloe Camille, from scratch and created a number of scenes.
Nicholas Talevski plays George Fox, the debonair Broadway Producer who will wow you with his variety actor skills and charm.
“Nicholas has embodied his character and every class he attends in full costume and props. His complete focus for his performance can be seen and felt in every scene,” says Belinda.
“If you don’t walk away at the end of the show falling in love with New York, you definitely will with George Fox."
Belinda says all the students have been “an integral part” of making these wonderful characters come alive. Students performing in the production range from as young as 18 months old.
“I am very proud to see an original Australian production to be created in Phillip Island through a young vibrant creative team,” she says.
“I am very proud of Sophie to have created Fancy Fox, and I believe this little Fox can, and will head to Broadway in the future.
“I have to stop sometimes because I think, how lucky are we? How lucky are we, that today we can all be in a theatre together, and to see a character that was born in lockdown, now be shared together."
