A double dose of Churchill

Award-winning folk singer/songwriter Kim Churchill is performing at Churchill Island as part of the Ocean Sounds Festival on December 10.

The show is part of a tour around the country, coinciding with the release of his new single “Come Back Free”

A joyous and tender ode to overcoming failures, this latest single is another taste from Kim’s forthcoming album, titled Dawn Sounds and scheduled for release on January 13, 2023. What a way to start the new year!

The 11-track album will feature already released singles “Fighter” and “Please Come Home” along with the brand new “Come Back Free”.

Warmed by a hushed rhythmic pulse and rich in earthy acoustic tones, the surf-soaked single is a reassuring anthem of hope.

Finding clarity in the face of life’s obstacles, Kim reflects on what “Come Back Free” means to him.

“The single is about putting yourself out there and getting back up when it doesn't work out. The mark of a life well lived is failure and lots of it!

“It's an integral part of figuring out who you are and what you do well and how to feel well. I've been learning that the most important thing is the joy you feel when you let go of failure and embrace it as an important part of the process of life.”

Described as “a romping high energy one man band show”, Kim has performed at renowned festivals across the globe, including Glastonbury Music Festival, Montreal’s International Jazz Festival and South By South West, along with a stack of home grown festivals.

Raised on the coastal town of Merimbula, the songwriter was previously crowned Australia’s National Youth Folk Artist of the Year and nominated for the National Live Music Awards Roots Act of the Year.

Don’t miss Kim Churchill at Ocean Sounds Festival on Churchill Island, December 10, alongside Tash Sultana, Pierce Brothers, Kee’ahn, Little Green and Mark Howard.

Kim’s tour continues through until March 2023.
