Vouchers help struggling families

Kids in need across Bass Coast have been given back-to-school vouchers by the Bass Coast Community Foundation, to be used for school essentials like uniforms, shoes, school bags and stationery.

Funded by local donors with the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR), more than 800 vouchers were given to schools and organisations, distributed to families struggling to meet the costs of the new school year, which was the highest ever number of vouchers to be donated.

Principal of Bass Valley primary school Sharon King said the vouchers made a difference to many families.

A total of $380,000 worth of vouchers have been given to local schools by the foundation over 18 years.
