Last week, the Prep and Junior students of Our Lady Star of the Sea (OLSS) celebrated the end of the school year with an excursion to Summersalt in Wonthaggi.
The action-packed day was filled with trampoline tricks, balancing challenges, bars, ropes, and climbing activities that kept everyone entertained and active.
A school spokesperson said students eagerly embraced every activity, cheering each other on and showing off their growing skills. "From scaling ropes to mastering balancing acts, it was wonderful to see their confidence and teamwork shine."
Teachers and staff were thrilled to see the joy on everyone's faces as they made the most of this energetic celebration.
"What a fantastic way to cap off a year of hard work and learning."
Surf Day
On Monday, December 9, OLSS students from Years 1 to 6 swapped their classroom desks for surfboards, embarking on an unforgettable day of learning and laughter at Smiths Beach.
Hosted by Island Surfboards, the day was all about teaching vital water safety skills and giving students a taste of surfing-many for the very first time.
The program began with a water safety briefing, where students learned how to read the beach, understand rips, and stay safe in the surf. These lessons, delivered by skilled surfing coaches from Island Surfboards and supported by the OLSS dedicated teachers, laid the foundation for the time spent in the water.
"It was truly wonderful to see our students engaging with the local community, learning new skills, and enjoying everything the beautiful Smiths Beach has to offer," said the school spokesperson.
"Stepping outside the classroom allows children to develop confidence and resilience, all while connecting with the world around them."
