Prep Water Bottles make a splash
1 min read

As the school year kicks off, Westernport Water is thrilled to announce the continuation of its cherished Prep Water Bottle Initiative.

Building on the success of previous years, the initiative aims to make the first day of school special for prep students by providing them with a free reusable stainless steel water bottle.

This year, Westernport Water proudly distributed over 300 stainless steel water bottles to prep students from all local primary schools.

This thoughtful gesture has seen over 2250 students receive a refillable water bottle, helping students to remain hydrated since the program's inception in 2017.

The Choose Tap campaign at the core of the Prep Water Bottle Initiative, advocates for the environmental, monetary, and health benefits of choosing tap water over sugary drinks.

Research demonstrates that a mere two per cent drop in body water can lead to a 13 per cent decrease in concentration, underscoring the importance of keeping students adequately hydrated for optimal learning and overall health.

"Our partnership with local primary schools and investment in our community's youngest learners through the Prep Water Bottle Initiative is something that we hold dear,” said Westernport Water’s Managing Director, Dona Tantirimudalige.

“By incorporating reusable water bottles into students’ daily routine, we not only support students' hydration, we aim to instil early lessons in sustainability and teach them about the importance of choosing tap water.

“The program's longevity is a testament to the enthusiasm we see from both students and teachers, and we're proud to contribute to their educational journey."

Local schools voiced their appreciation for the initiative.

“Our preps from Newhaven Primary were very excited to receive a drink bottle from Westernport Water's Prep Drink Bottle Initiative,” said Newhaven Primary School’s prep teacher Bethanie Williams.

“The preps were thrilled with their new drink bottles, and we want to say thank you to Westernport Water for supporting our newest members of our beautiful school.”

San Remo Primary School’s Principal Karen Bowker said the school was thrilled to be part of the Westernport Water program again.

“The children are always excited to get their new water bottles. We cannot thank them enough.”
