San Remo Primary School has received $76,484 to create an inclusive outdoor learning space, under the state government’s Inclusive Schools Fund.
Principal Karen Bowker was excited to learn the school had secured the grant.
“We are aiming to create an accessible and inclusive learning space blending calming and supportive re-engagement learning areas that will enable children to explore and develop gross motor skills,” Karen said.
“Our garden will be an interactive, educational environment in which children of all ages, backgrounds, physical abilities and cultures can play, explore and discover the natural world.
“The construction of a multisensory garden landscape will assist everyone within our community to reach their full potential, especially those with special needs who already face additional challenges in their lives.”
Karen said the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) would oversee the project and she expected to be contacted this term, to begin the process of delivering the new outdoor space.
San Remo Primary was one of more than 40 schools to receive funding in Round 8 of the program.
