On Thursday March 21 the Cowes Primary School Prep children enjoyed a reading party to celebrate the beginning of their reading journey.
The school says the first step in teaching children to read is by explicitly teaching sounds with their corresponding letter names.
In Prep, students engage in a decodable reading program, which aligns with current research.
The reading party marked the special occasion of taking home their first decodable texts.
Students have been highly engaged and motivated in their reading and the Prep teachers are incredibly proud of their achievements to date.
