Schools and school uniforms have changed a lot over the years. As students get ready to start a new school year, we look back at one of the island’s much-loved old schools. This photo taken in 1955, shows the Ventnor School, with five young students outside – from left: Susan Byron Moore, Angie Gardiner, Shirley Booth, Eileen Jones and Elizabeth Bruton. Last year, former students celebrated the 100th anniversary of the school opening on September 6, 1922, with a special afternoon in the old school building.
