Liam McDonald (94.8), is hoping to study engineering at RMIT or University of Melbourne. “For my gap year, I will be performing in Wonthaggi Theatrical Groups’ production of School of Rock, while working to save up for some travel before starting Uni.”

Rosa Green (90.7). “I plan to jump straight into studies at Monash University, studying Science/ Arts with a major in journalism”.
Laura Vivian (86.75) said she plans to start a Bachelor of Arts in Melbourne next year. “I really want to work in Child Psychology in the future.”
Jasmine Sullivan (88.05) wants to travel to Europe/USA in 2023. “Then I hope to study at University of Melbourne with an Arts course, focusing on journalism and Environment.”
William O’Neill (85.25) plans to study engineering at Monash Uni, “while maintaining my passion for studying Japanese”.
Will Carter (84.0). “I want to focus on my passion for science while studying Engineering at Monash University in 2023.”
Ella Beasley was in the top nine per cent of the state for Further Mathematics. “I am open-minded about my future but would like to start my tertiary education next year, maybe doing Bachelor of Arts at University of Melbourne.”
Michael Furniss (82.15) is moving to Melbourne next year to work and travel, “after which I want start Automotive Engineering at RMIT”.
Dux of Newhaven College, Hamish Brosnan, celebrated an ATAR of 97.2 at the announcement of VCE results this week.
Hamish was closely followed by Liam McDonald who received an ATAR of 94.8.
Newhaven College Principal, Tony Corr, congratulated all this year’s VCE students on an incredible result.
“The Newhaven College class of 2022 has made an outstanding contribution. In all areas of school life, they have participated with great enthusiasm and effort.
“As a school, we are proud of the diverse range of gifts and talents that they have displayed in their time at school. More importantly, they are a wonderful group of young people that demonstrated warmth, compassion and care in all they did.
“As the 2022 class prepare for their life post school, this week we congratulate them on their VCE results.
“Despite the challenges of Covid disrupted years leading into Year 12 they have performed very well. The commitment, resilience and effort they demonstrated at school are reflected in their results.”
Mr Corr said 11.25 per cent of Newhaven College’s VCE students achieved an ATAR (Australian Tertiary Entrance Rank) of above 80. In addition, more than one-third of students were placed in the top 30 per cent of the state.
“Congratulations to Hamish Brosnan who was our College Dux with the exceptional ATAR of 97.2, placing him in the top three per cent of Victoria.
“Congratulations also to our College Proxime, Liam McDonald, who received an ATAR of 94.8.
“Other high-achieving students with ATAR scores of above 80 were Rosa Green, Jasmine Sullivan, Laura Vivian, William O’Neill, Will Carter, Michael Furniss and Ella Beasley.
“Special recognition to Year 11 student Saffi Campbell-Walker who achieved the perfect study score of 50 in VET Music Performance.
“To achieve a study score of 50 is the highest possible result and an exceptional effort. To attain that result in Year 11 is a wonderful achievement and a great credit to Saffi."
Mr Corr also congratulate four students who achieved the Victorian Certificate of Education Baccalaureate.
The VCE Baccalaureate is an additional form of recognition for students who successfully meet the demands of studying a higher-level mathematics subject and a language in their VCE program.
“Congratulations to Hamish Brosnan, Michael Furniss, Tahlia Mumby and William O’Neill on this achievement.
“At Newhaven College, we are proud of the many pathways our students take post school – whether that be university, apprenticeships, vocational studies or employment.
“As a school, we want to continue to support each of our students to pursue their interests and passions.
“We are especially proud of the efforts of each Year 12 student and thank them for the contribution they have made in their time at Newhaven College.
“We wish them the very best of luck as they set off on their adult journey beyond school.”
