The Newhaven College board of directors held its annual strategic planning weekend last month at Inverloch.
This year’s session was focused on the long-term future of the College and delivering on the Strategic Direction unveiled in 2022.
Best-practice teaching and learning, pastoral care, opportunities in early years education and before and after school care, sustainability, innovation and governance were among the topics discussed.
“Our College Board comprises members of our local community who each bring high-level professional skills and valuable perspectives,” says Chair of the Board, David Jobe.
“This year was an opportunity to welcome two new directors: Tracey Costello and Steve Morris, as well as new sub-committee member, Kristen Rose.”
Tracey Costello is an accomplished strategic leader with a depth of finance and governance experience across corporate, government and non-government organisations.
Steve Morris is an experienced management professional with a wealth of experience in the digital technology space. Steve has a diverse background in IT, which has translated into his exceptional knowledge and respect in the industry.
As a sub-committee member, Kristen Rose will be a highly valued participant. As a barrister, Ms Rose’s work has primarily focused on the Children’s Court, intervention order proceedings and summary crime.
In May, the Board also farewelled Rory Mackenzie after four years. Rory's professional experience as a Financial Planner has made him an instrumental part of the College Board over the four years. Rory will continue his involvement at the College in a parental role.
“Over forty years ago, our College was built by members of our local community coming together in a spirit of shared endeavour to create something remarkable,” says David.
“It is a privilege to be involved with such a group of high-calibre individuals who give so generously of their time to continue that tradition today.”
