New head of College middle school
1 min read

After 10 years of exemplary leadership as junior school head, Ralph Arceo has been appointed head of middle school at Newhaven College from the start of next year.

Mr Arceo will be replacing Geoff White who has decided to focus on teaching.

“Newhaven College is thrilled Ralph will be taking on the role of head of middle school,” said principal Tony Corr.

“Ralph is very well known to our community as the current junior school head, a position he has held with great distinction for the past 10 years.

“Over that time, he has been an exceptional leader who has the respect of students, parents and staff for his professionalism, communication and high standards.”

Prior to starting at Newhaven College, Ralph had many years’ experience working and teaching in middle years, including leadership roles, across several schools.

“The college was fortunate to have had a number of high standard candidates apply for this position. The interview panel was unanimous in recommending Ralph to lead the middle school into its next phase,” said Mr Corr.

Newhaven College will now be looking to appoint a leader and educator to the role of head of junior school.

The junior school has its own purpose-built facility educating about 250 students from prep to year 4. Working alongside a team of committed staff the head of junior school oversees the day to day running of the school as well as the curricular, co-curricular and pastoral care of all junior school students.

Reporting directly to the principal, the junior school head is part of the college leadership team along with, among others, the heads of middle and senior schools.

The position will begin at the start of 2024 school term. Applications can be submitted to recruitment@newhavencol.vic.edu.au

Applications close 4pm Monday, September 11.
