Newhaven College students and staff have been enthusiastically preparing for their 2023 musical production of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid”.

This timeless story of love, acceptance, sacrifice, and redemption has captured the hearts and imaginations of audiences young and old for generations.

“The Little Mermaid” tells the story of Ariel and her journey to find true love and acceptance and we hope to inspire our audience to follow their dreams and embrace their own unique identities.

From the stunning set designs and intricate costumes to the powerful musical numbers and heartfelt performances, every detail of this production has been carefully crafted to create a truly immersive experience for audiences.

As a classic fairy tale originally written by Hans Christian Andersen and then reimagined into the beloved Disney animated classic, Director Lauren White is finding it a “joy to be able to direct this beautiful, magical production”.

Year 10 student Cecily de Gooyer, through her performance as Ariel, hopes the audience will connect with the messages the show conveys including the importance of selflessness, forgiveness, and the true meaning of love.

Four shows are being held at the Wonthaggi Union Community Arts Centre from Friday May 5 to Sunday May 7. Tickets are available at www.wonthaggiartscentre.com.au.
