Inclusive and creative
1 min read

At Our Lady Star of the Sea in Cowes, Year Six students are taking the lead in fostering inclusivity and creativity by organising and running lunchtime activities for junior students.

This initiative, aimed at encouraging leadership and collaboration, has been a resounding success, with one particular group of students making a lasting impact.

While all Year Six students have the chance to plan and lead activities for their Foundation buddies, one group of passionate individuals decided to go above and beyond. Their idea? A weekly lunchtime dance club open to all junior students.

The dance club has quickly become a highlight of the school week, attracting at least 15 enthusiastic participants each session. Students gather to learn and practice routines in a fun and supportive environment. The program reached a significant milestone when the dance club performed at a whole-school assembly, delighting parents, teachers, and peers alike with their energy and enthusiasm.

The success of this program is a testament to the power of student voice and initiative. By taking ownership of the project, these Year Six leaders have not only created a space for creativity and fun but have also demonstrated the importance of inclusivity and teamwork.
