Cowes Primary gets a splash of colour

Last week, students at Cowes Primary School enjoyed a fun filled and colourful afternoon.

The Big Show Fun Run, coordinated by the School Council Fundraising Committee, was the school’s major fundraiser of 2022 and will certainly be deemed a highlight of the school year by many.

The event included a t-shirt design competition where students submitted entries that were then shortlisted by the Junior School Council judging panel. The design produced by Reuben in Year 5 was chosen and printed on t-shirts as part of the fundraiser.

Katrina Knight, School Council member and Big Show Fun Run organiser, said she was once again blown away with results which raised over $39,600.

It has been an amazing fundraising feat by many students, with some of them making over $2000. Ziggy was again the top earner in 2022 but was pushed to the very end by Evie.

Rodney McKenzie, school Principal, acknowledged the amazing effort of organisers Carly McShane, Lorey Sheers, and Katrina Knight who put in a power of work to ensure the days success.

“It is wonderful to have such committed parents who go above and beyond for the benefit of the school and the students.

“The event was such a wonderful afternoon and everywhere you looked there were beaming smiles from ear to ear which was so pleasing to see,” said Rodney.

There was also a great show of support on the day from parent volunteers who operated the powder and water stations to ensure everyone was showered in colour.

As an added incentive to raise funds, Sliming the Teacher was again a highlight of the event, with the highest money earners getting the chance to slime the Principal, Assistant Principal and classroom teachers.
