College’s million dollar upgrade
1 min read

Newhaven College has received a $1 million grant through the Australian Government's Capital Grants program.

The grant will fund the refurbishment and extension of the junior school building to create an additional two classrooms and an outdoor learning area.

Announcing the funding, Senator for Victoria Jess Walsh said the new facilities "will provide school staff, teachers and students at Newhaven College with better, more modern spaces in which to work, teach and learn".

Senator Walsh said the new facilities will benefit the students currently at Newhaven College, as well as the many students who will follow in future years.

"I congratulate Newhaven College on their successful grant application and look forward to seeing the positive impact these new facilities will have on the school community."

College Principal, Tony Corr said the school was very grateful to receive the funding.

"Newhaven College is thankful to the Australian Government for providing funding through the Capital Grants Program to go towards improvements in our Junior School.

"Not only will it mean two additional classrooms to cater for increasing demand, it will enable significant improvements to the current facility which will improve our student's learning experience," he said.

"This will include a newly designed playground that fosters play, collaboration and active learning for all junior school students."
