Celebrating learning
1 min read

San Remo Primary School enjoys celebrating special days and events on the calendar as part of a diverse and extensive curriculum.

Some of the days that have been celebrated this year include world environment day, tree planting day and just recently the school celebrated Bullying – No Way Day with students wearing a touch of orange in support.

In class students focused on the theme this year of Growing Connections, with activities and discussions occurring in all classrooms.

This day is also part of our Respectful Relationships program and a strong wellbeing program.

Students and teachers are dressing up for Book Week, an annual favourite to celebrate our love of reading and Australian literature.

It will culminate with the students involved in an online author reading of “My Place” by Nadia Wheatley, whose book was book of the year in 1988.

Students are also busy writing their own stories for the Fishy Writing Challenge, which is a local writing festival at Fish Creek.

“The students are excited and enjoy linking their learning to real life events such as this,” said teacher Shaun Taylor.

Added principal Karen Bowker: “We aim to make sure all students have an opportunity to shine.”

“Having a wide range of learning choices mean all students find learning fun.”

San Remo has a strong commitment to all curriculum areas, as well as offering specialist subjects of art, music, library, Japanese and physical education.

They also have before and after school care and in 2024 will be offering vacation care in the school holidays for families working at the school for their students, which will also be open to students from neighbouring schools.
