Bass Valley Primary School continues to be the little school with a big heart, providing students, staff and families with experiences unmatched by almost any school in Victoria.
Its unique setting encompasses a wetlands area with walking tracks, bird watching boxes and student-built huts.
A 25m pool, full school gym, sporting oval with new cricket pitch, soccer goals and football posts engage the students each day.
Grounds include a sustainability centre with a greenhouse, compost facilities, vegetable gardens and fruit orchard for students to plant, grow and eat their own produce.
They also have their own school library and almost 1:1 computer access for students.
At the forefront of the school sits a vibrant, passionate and hardworking teaching and education support staff, and the care and compassion they show is unrivalled.
In class, programs such as Sounds Write, the new Math Initiative, Robotics, Bike Education, Cows Create Careers, Woodwork, Kids as Catalysts, school leadership opportunities and hands on learning engage students and encourage them to Be Their Best .
In preparation for primary school, the Ready, Set, Go programs provides an excellent opportunity for future prep students to best prepare for their first year of school.
The programs offered meet the diverse needs of our students, from physical education, art and STEAM, with lunchtime clubs including gardening, dancing, sports, construction and mindfulness to engage and assist all students.
In 2024, the school will commence their before and after school hours care program, which includes a school holiday program.
This will be offered on the school grounds, with access to many of our unique school facilities.
The school offers wellbeing and welfare assistance to families with two wellbeing inclusion staff who help students, promote positive behaviour, and support families to connect with services in the community.
The school hosts weekly assemblies for families and friends to celebrate student achievement, as well as their famous yearly Duck Lotto event, Colour Run, and Movie night.
The success of the students at Bass Valley PS is obvious. Last year alone they had five students representing Victoria in the state softball team, one state AFL representative, and one state cross country representative.
