Banner for climate change
1 min read

Phillip Island Nature Parks hosted a special event for Climate Action at the Penguin Parade on February 17, attended by students from local primary schools.

A giant banner is currently touring the country, to raise awareness about climate change, as part of the Kids care about Climate Change campaign.

Dr Marji Puotinen brought a giant banner made from 2629 kids’ drawings.

Local primary school children were invited to attend and help to hold up the huge beach banner, which was photographed and filmed from the sky. The giant banner has visited 19 schools and six nations so far.

A video of its travels was shown at CoP27 in Egypt in Nov 2022: https://youtu.be/Gu9kZ5-crds.

“Children are the future care takers of our planet and will experience the impacts of climate change in a more profound way than any generation that came before them,” said Catherine Basterfield, CEO Phillip Island Nature Parks.

“The Nature Parks are excited to support this activity that gives children a voice to champion change in a meaningful and positive way.”
