Awards and celebrations at Cowes Primary

Cowes Primary School celebrated the end of 2023 with a final assembly on Monday December 18.

It was time to congratulate the Grade 6s on completing their primary school education and for the rest of the school to say farewell.

Many awards were given to students from Grade 6 with outstanding results in the following areas:

  • Male sports - Archie Robinson
  • Female sports - Kate McCausland
  • Visual Arts - Ilsa Gallyot
  • Japanese - Lucian Hannon
  • STEM- Kayden Peppler
  • Music - Van Cleary
  • Academic- Briar Haddon

A citizenship award for a student who demonstrates outstanding qualities of leadership, pride, empathy, and compassion was awarded to Eliza Poll.

Kailey Longworth was the recipient of the Kate Lalor Award, awarded to a student who demonstrates perseverance in all areas of school.

Ella Solohub and Reuben Gijsbers received awards from South Coast Buses for their leadership on the school buses.

Cowes Primary School students were fortunate to be the recipients of some further awards and scholarships sponsored by local community groups.

The Bendigo Bank gave out four Fred Borg Encouragement Awards to the value of $200 to Grade 5 students to assist with their schooling in 2024. The recipients were Kayde Lyttle, Heath Fitzpatrick, Aiden Pendry-Tran and Taeah Darling.

The Phillip Island RSL presented Grade 5 students Lily Bobrowski and Max Carville with awards for persistence and resilience throughout the year.

OBrien Real Estate gave an award to a student who instils the values of family, mutuality, embraces change, shows resilience when faced with adversity and is working towards being the best version of themselves. This was given to year four student Zed Findlay-Abicha.

St. Vincent De Paul issued two awards to the school for the first time.

Two very generous $1000 vouchers were given to two students from Grade 6, Xavia-Luca Bland and Tanesha Georgiou, to assist with their secondary schooling.

Kate McCausland was successfully nominated for a School Sport Victoria (SSV) award. This is a combination Academic and Sporting Award, where the student has excelled in both these areas, and Kate was a deserving recipient.

Cowes Primary School would like to thank all the community groups for their support in this year's awards.
