Author in residence at Bass Coast College

Last month, Bass Coast College hosted an Author in Residence Program with Amie Kaufman at the Wonthaggi, San Remo, and Dudley Campuses.

Amie Kaufman is a New York Times and internationally bestselling Australian author, renowned for her contributions to Young Adult science fiction and fantasy.

With numerous awards and a dedicated global fanbase, Amie Kaufman is a leading voice in Young Adult literature.

Over 300 students, across the three Bass Coast College Campuses, attended talks and workshops as part of the Author in Residence program.

Students enjoyed meeting Amie and gaining an insight into her journey from fledgling writer to bestselling author.

Students interested in developing their own writing skills attended a selection of focused writing workshops with Amie, that included "Get your story started", "world building" and "character voice".

Amie Kaufman has co-authored several acclaimed series, including The Illuminae Files and Aurora Cycle with Jay Kristoff, as well as the Starbound trilogy with Meagan Spooner.

Her work is characterised by intricate world-building, dynamic characters, and thrilling plots that often explore the interplay between technology and humanity.

Kaufman's recent publications such as Isles of the Gods, showcase her talent for weaving magic and adventure into compelling, page-turning narratives.
