Tyler is part of the Newhaven College Surfing Academy which caters to all surfing levels, from beginners to advanced competitors. Our program is competency-based, so each student progresses at their own pace.
At Newhaven College we create an intimate environment where every student is
known, seen and heard so that a strong sense of belonging and care is a feature of their time with us.
Your child will become the best possible versions of themself in a happy, safe and challenging environment.
Junior School
The Junior School years are a precious time when we sow the seeds of success for later years.
In prep to year 4, we focus on nurturing students so they can thrive. Our small class sizes and engaged teaching style encourages children to flourish. Students learn to ask questions, take risks, and develop a passion for learning.
We tailor lessons to each student s unique needs, ensuring no one gets overlooked.
Middle School
We view the Middle School years as a precious time when students need to be protected and nourished like saplings.
During this time, they develop the foundational skills they need for future growth.
From year 5 to year 8, students at Newhaven College deepen their academic knowledge across the curriculum.
As the years progress and students develop their passions, more areas of study are offered.
Senior School
Year 9 Learning Centre
Year 9 is different. Students are based at our purpose-built Environmental Centre set in its own spacious area within the Newhaven College campus.
Students wear a ranger-style uniform and hiking boots. The pace is different.
We developed the year 9 Environmental Centre to support an innovative and practical program.
The goal? To keep students active and engaged in their learning. We've designed a program that allows us to use a wide range of teaching styles. It prioritises experiences where students learn by doing. The results improve their academic and personal growth.
Year 10 12: Choosing the path that's right for them
Years 10 to 12 at Newhaven College are the crucial years where previous learning, increasing confidence and a greater sense of their place in the global community, culminate to shape young people s future directions.
Our ethos is based upon mutual respect between teacher and students, in which high standards of social and academic expectations are actively encouraged.
We offer students in years 10 to 12 broad subject options, matched by engaged careers
advice.
That means every child gets support as they make key decisions for their future. We cater for individual differences among students and place great importance on strengthening each student s self-esteem and sense of community.
Co-curricular opportunities
Newhaven College offers a wide range of experiences outside the traditional classroom, including tours to Japan.
We also have a rich mix of experiences to broaden the mind, challenge the body and stimulate the soul.
Our students build self-confidence and team spirit through an extensive range of co-curricular opportunities.
Every student is encouraged to embrace new experiences and immerse themselves in college life by participating in cocurricular activities that complement the academic program: music, dance, drama, surfing academy, equestrian team, house competitions, interschool sport, cultural events, Duke of Edinburgh Award, public speaking and debating, language studies and international tours.
