Cowes Primary School welcomed 522 students, including 74 eager new preps, for the start of its milestone 150th year.
The school year kicked off on a high last Monday with a day of learning for staff with Dr Nathaniel Swain, a distinguished figure in the Science of Learning movement.
The renowned educator and lead lecturer at Latrobe University shared valuable insights and practical tools, setting an inspiring tone for innovative approaches to learning in 2024.
Cowes Primary School welcomes eight new teachers and three education support staff for 2024, each bringing a wealth of expertise and dedication to the school community. Notably, Bella Hands, a new Year 3 teacher, has a unique connection to the school as her grandmother attended in the 1940s.
This year Bree Rutherford has transitioned into a second Assistant Principal role. Bree's exceptional leadership skills and commitment to the growth of both students and staff will add great value to our school.
Over the break, the Dome received a fresh coat of paint and a number of smaller maintenance tasks were completed. A new cricket pitch and tennis court refurbishment are also planned over the coming months.
Additionally, the school pool became a hub of activity as the YMCA and Vic Swim utilised the facility. The school is very fortunate to have a pool as we're located on an island surrounded by water. Given the potential dangers of our surrounding waters, it is imperative that our students are equipped with the skills to navigate them safely.
