A flipping good time at Our Lady Star of the Sea
1 min read

Tuesday February 13 was a shocking day for many, with trees down, power off and vicious wind and rain.

It presented an extra challenge for Our Lady Star of the Sea primary school, which had scheduled a Shrove Tuesday night for students and their families.

“We wondered how we would hold our traditional family pancake night,” said Principal Catherine Blackford.

“The staff started cooking as soon as school finished so we had plenty of pancakes for the hungry families who bravely ventured out to celebrate Shrove Tuesday.

“As well as being a night for the beginning of Lent it was also an opportunity for new families to experience the community spirit of Our Lady Star of the Sea.

“The evening consisted of pancake eating, craft activities to make frying pans and pancakes for our pancake races, team building challenges and relays.

“It was wonderful to see so many families interacting with each other and having a fun-filled evening,” Mrs Blackford said.
