Special visitors at PINP

Six families, including ten parents, carers and 21 children, from Dandenong South Primary School, are visiting Phillip Island Nature Parks this month for their first ever holiday, which has been gifted to them through the Magical Getaway Foundation.

The children and carers are staying at the Kaloha Holiday Resort this week, and will visit the Penguin Parade, Antarctic Journey at the Nobbies, Churchill Island and the Koala Conservation Reserve during their time here.

The holiday has been funded with grants from The Andrews Foundation and Greater Dandenong City Council, with the Nature Parks providing vouchers for the visits to its attractions.

The Magical Getaway Foundation gives first-ever holidays to vulnerable or disadvantaged children, and young people and their families, to improve their health and wellbeing and to help them reach their full potential in life.

Magical Getaway Foundation Founder and Director, Rosemary Teed described the getaways as more than just a holiday.

“Research shows that holidays improve well-being, reduce stress, increase self-esteem and strengthen family communication and bonding. It's not about the holiday, it's about what it brings hope,” she said.

Phillip Island Nature Parks CEO, Catherine Basterfield said her team was looking forward to welcoming the special visitors to the Nature Parks.

“Whether it’s our much-loved little penguins, koalas, or the spectacular views, there is something for everyone on Phillip Island and we hope the families leave with many treasured memories.

“We are honoured to be part of this wonderful opportunity created by the Magical Getaway Foundation for six special families.”
