RSL supports community

The latest round of grants from the Phillip Island RSL have been announced.

Five community groups received grants totalling $16,438 at a special presentation ceremony at the RSL last week.

The recipients were welcomed by new General Manager Chris Simpson.

Peter Paul, RSL Committee member and Vice President, said it was pleasing to see all the grants would be of immediate use to the local community.

“All attending were greatly appreciative of their grants and the sumptuous and magnificently presented afternoon tea,” Peter said.

“A most enjoyable afternoon for all.”

Grant recipients:

  • Phillip Island Urban Fire Brigade – $4999 for a floor scrubber for new premises.
  • Probus Club of Phillip Island – $939 for a portable PA system.
  • Phillip Island Football Netball Club – $5999 for a new coffee machine
  • Phillip Island Homes for the Aged – $5000 for a new WiFi system
  • Phillip Island Medical and Health Action Group – $500 for administration costs.

The Phillip Island RSL also provides annual grants to the Wonthaggi Cadet unit of $5000 and as a major sponsor, increased its grant to the Carols by the Bay on December 12 this year to $7000.
