Phillip Island's first Greek Orthodox Church was officially opened last weekend at the Trenavin Chapel Phillip Island in Ventnor.
Up to 3000 people attended a service by popular priest Papa Lefteris, which was followed by Greek dancing, music and food on the cliff top overlooking Western Port.
Father Lefteris is a controversial figure in the church.
Previously he was priest at the Holy Monastery of Panagia Kamariani in Red Hill, but was last year "let go" by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia (GOAA) for a series of controversial opinions.
He is best known for the traditional Blessing of the Waters ceremony in Rye each year, which sees thousands of local Greeks turn up to show their support.
