The Community Bank of Cowes celebrated 15 fantastic years on Monday May 13.
"We thank the community for the continued growth of the branch over 15 years. It's enabled us to give so much back to the people of Phillip Island," Chair Peter Paul commented.
The exceptional growth of the branch has been despite having branches of the big four banks in town in Cowes when it first opened in 2009.
But its journey really began years earlier. Peter was part of a small group of people passionate about Community Banking - Terry Ashenden, Sue Becker, Paul Crosby, Glenyce Paul, Bruce Procter, Craig Semple and Pauline Taylor.
"We started campaigning for the Cowes branch in 2006, sitting on Thompson Avenue on Saturday mornings asking for support," Peter recalls.
"And we got it! The difference between us and other banks is that we are a true community bank. We invest in the community, and our shareholders and staff are invested in Phillip Island and surrounds.
Yet we are still able to offer all the services you need in a bank.
"We are exceptionally proud of our wonderful branch manager Tanya and our amazing staff, Leonie, Dawn, Win and Sabine," Peter continued.
"Thank you to everyone who has supported and continue to support the bank."
Branch manager Tanya agrees. "I would like to thank all of our wonderful loyal customers in Cowes. We are always here for you, Monday-Friday, 9.30 to 5pm."
