Phillip Island Boardriders Club (PIBC) President Hannah Eisen has been nominated in the 2023 Community Achievement Awards for Victoria.
The awards celebrate those people who have contributed to their community, no matter how big or small.
Hannah has been nominated for a Regional Development Victoria Leadership and Innovation Award, for her work with PIBC.
The second female president in the club’s history, Hannah is also an architect, interior designer and project manager who runs her own consultancy.
Under her leadership the club has introduced a range of new programs, particularly focused on increasing the participation of women in surfing. She is a Surf Her Way ambassador and a Change our Game advocate.
Other initiatives include regular yoga sessions at the clubhouse – open to the public – and securing funding to ensure that 30 women and girls were able to participate in a surf and yoga girls program.
Hannah’s leadership has seen the renovation and updating of the clubhouse facilities, including flooring, cooling, solar panels, new windows and wifi.
This included helping to secure funding and rallying volunteer workers – “you can't mobilise volunteers to renovate an entire clubhouse without their respect”, her nomination form stated.
In nominating Hannah, Club Secretary Joanna Stubbs said the work being done was setting the club up for the next generation.
If you know a community member who has made an incredible contribution, nominations are still open for this year’s awards.
