Dog owners give PICAL a helping hand
1 min read

On International Dog Day 2022 the Phillip Island Bass Coast Dog Owners' Association (PIBCDOA) made a generous donation of $550 worth of pet food to the Phil Dixon Emergency Food Relief Pantry at PICAL.

The donation was delivered to Greg Thompson, General Manager of PICAL by Catherine Gregson and Karen Skinner of PIBCDOA.

"We were so happy to be able to raise the funds through a very successful raffle and sausage sizzle held at the first birthday celebrations of Petstock Cowes in July,” said Karen.

“We were extremely well supported by our wonderful Association Members as well as members of the Phillip Island community. It is hoped that the food will be distributed to pet owners in need during this very difficult economic time.”

Steve Lambert and his dog Snowy were very happy to receive the food which Steve said had come at a most welcome time.

He said he was very grateful to both PIBCDOA and PICAL for making this possible for him and his beloved dog.

PIBCDOA President, Cheryl Owens said: "Our group continues to fight for responsible pet ownership and a fair go for ourselves and our dogs while taking care to ensure wildlife is preserved.

“We continue to work hard to ensure access to leash free beaches and dog friendly parks.

“We work to care for our local dogs through initiatives such as this, which is brought about by the incredible generosity of our loyal members.”
