Christmas comes early
1 min read

The Phillip Island Senior Citizen Club enjoyed a fabulous Christmas lunch on Friday December 1.

With over 30 raffle prizes to be won, the very happy members really did feel like Christmas had come early.

Club Secretary Liza Lee thanked everyone involved in making the day a success.

“Thank you to all the volunteers who work tirelessly every month to make things run smoothly for our lunches but even more so for our Christmas lunch because it's way bigger than our regular lunch.

“You are all amazing and fabulous. We couldn't do what we do without you.”

Liza said the end of the year was a time to reflect on the achievements of the club, and the hard-working committee, who have “worked so tirelessly throughout the year to try to bring joy to our members”.

“Our club is in a very healthy situation, growing by numbers each month and this is a huge credit to everyone who works behind the scenes.

“This includes the committee as a whole, our brilliant cook Melva Smith and her kitchen team of Jenny Chipperfield, Edward Malinowski, and on occasion Jan Setford.

“Without these hard-working and devoted people, we would be in trouble.”

Liza said the committee also wanted to thank all the local businesses who supported the Christmas lunch raffles.

She said members were thrilled to win the vouchers and products from local businesses.

“We’d like to say a very big thank you for your donations. You are generous beyond belief.

“From everyone at the Phillip Island Senior Citizens Club,  we wish you a merry Christmas, happy holidays and we hope you get spoiled rotten by Santa as you deserve.

“Merry Xmas everyone.”
