If you are looking for second hand houseware goods and furniture at low, low prices ... Steptoe's Emporium should be your first stop.
The Phillip Island Lions Club runs Steptoe Emporium in Dunsmore Road, Cowes and profits from the enterprise fund the wonderful community support program it has operated for the past 55 years.
The affectionately named Steptoe Emporium raises funds by accepting donations of good quality household goods which are then put on display and sold on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Donated goods can be dropped off on Saturday and Sunday mornings, while pick up of larger items by the Lions' truck can be arranged.
Donations arrive constantly at the Dunsmore Road shed and there is a high turnover. Items must be in good condition, although those that have seen better days, but can easily be repaired, renovated or painted, such as outdoor furniture, are also accepted.
Larger items or full houses of donated furniture and chattels (such as from a deceased estate or holiday house sale) can be picked up by arrangement with the club.
The Lions also provide a delivery service for a small charge.
Shoppers range from people setting up a holiday house, students starting out on a tight budget, as well as those on the lookout for a particular item, or simply interested spectators keen to snap up a bargain. Second fridges for the garage, for example, are in high demand.
Lions' members say the Steptoe Emporium is a very happy place, where buyers are delighted with their affordable finds.

Other donations include to homeless youth, the PICAL pantry, St John's Church weekly community meal, St Philip's Drop In Centre, Flying Doctors, Doctors Without Borders, Newhaven Primary wildlife campaign, Kids with Cancer Group, plus many more.
